Model Solution showcased industrial augmented reality (AR) devices at the Industrial Technology R&D Exhibition until December 8 The MS-AR20SE, uniquely blending design and specialized functions for industrial settings, is set for mass production and market release in 2024 Model Solution fosters industrial AR devices as a major driver of future growth along with the prototype business Seoul, South Korea, December 13, 2023 – Model Solution, a one-stop hardware (H/W) platform company and a subsidiary of Hankook & Company Group (formerly Hankook Tire Group), participated in the ‘2023 Korea Industrial Technology R&D Expo’ at COEX in Seoul, South Korea from December 6 to 8 and featured the unveiling of its cutting-edge industrial augmented reality (AR) devices. Organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the 2023 Korea Industrial Technology R&D Expo stands as Korea’s premier R&D technology exhibition. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the event showcased the achievements of industrial technology innovation projects and facilitated the exchange of strategies for future technology development. At the exhibition, Model Solution presented ‘MS-AR20SE,’ an industrial AR head-mounted display (HDM) developed completely in-house from design to engineering, to promote its technology and target the market for the latest industrial AR devices. The MS-AR20SE is designed to optimize usability by prioritizing core functions essential for industrial fields, in addition to its focus on design and lightweight features. It is equipped with a monocular optical module, thermal imaging camera, lantern, and power bank, making it suitable for versatile applications such as safety diagnostics, facility management and training, and remote support. The company intends to commence mass production for the commercial product in 2024 following field tests at Hankook Tire’s Daejeon plant in Korea and its Tennessee plant in the U.S. Furthermore, it has been accelerating the development of binocular AR devices from the second half of this year and aims to complete by the end of 2024. “The competition among global big tech companies to develop AR headsets has been intensifying,” said Byungil Woo, CEO of Model Solution. “Rather than directly competing with big tech companies, Model Solution will ramp up research and development targeting the industrial AR device market, which has the potential to create a niche market.” Model Solution has identified the development of industrial AR devices as a key strategic task since 2021. The company is fostering this area as a major driving force that will lead the company’s future growth along with the prototype business which serves as the company’s cash cow. Amid the uptick in global companies entering the market, Model Solution sees great potential in successfully securing its competitiveness in industrial devices over personal entertainment devices, which has been the focus of other companies. Based on several years of expertise in the prototype business, Model Solution is heading towards a development phase that could successfully differentiate the company from competitive products by focusing on performance that meets the needs of the field – such as lightweight, excellence in wearability, visibility, duration, and operability.
