Model Solution Selected as a Member of the K-Humanoid Alliance
Model Solution Selected as a Member of the K-Humanoid Alliance
September 16, 2025
■ Expected to play a key role in the national strategic project to elevate Korea as a robotics powerhouse ■ Leading next-generation robot technologies with its “ultra-lightweight smart actuators for humanoid joints” Model Solution Co., Ltd., a global innovation hardware platform company and an affiliate of Hankook & Company Group, has been officially selected as a member of the K-Humanoid Alliance, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).    The K-Humanoid Alliance is a collaborative initiative of research institutes, conglomerates, component makers, and startups, aiming for technological independence in humanoid robotics and the establishment of an industrial ecosystem by 2030. Key participants include leading research institutions such as Seoul National University, KAIST, Yonsei University, and POSTECH, as well as major Korean corporations like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, and POSCO. Alongside Model Solution, many specialized robotics companies have also joined. Through this, Model Solution is expected to play a critical role in Korea’s national strategy to become a global humanoid robotics leader.    Model Solution is developing an “ultra-lightweight smart actuator for humanoid joints,” which integrates AFPM motors, inductive encoders, GaN motor drives, and QDD reducers. By leveraging its accumulated expertise in actuator structure and integrated design, the company has filed multiple patents, securing a technological edge. In addition, with its comprehensive manufacturing infrastructure—spanning prototyping, tooling, injection molding, and 3D printing—the company has been recognized for its strong advantage in rapidly advancing proof-of-concept (PoC) validation and commercialization.    With this alliance participation, Model Solution plans to actively drive demonstration and commercialization of precision actuation systems for humanoid arms, hands, and legs. The company will also collaborate with partners to develop open platforms, contributing to industry standardization. Furthermore, it aims to expand participation in government R&D and global projects, creating results applicable across healthcare, rehabilitation, industry, and service sectors.    Byung-il Woo, CEO of Model Solution, said, “Model Solution is not only a provider of prototypes and components but also a company that integrates core actuation, control, and manufacturing technologies essential for humanoid robots. Through our participation in the K-Humanoid Alliance, we will contribute to ensuring Korea’s global competitiveness in the robotics industry.”    Meanwhile, Model Solution has established partnerships with global robot manufacturers to mass-produce and supply key components for humanoids, collaborative robots, quadruped robots, and logistics robots. The company also participates in various government-led robotics projects, including national R&D programs for personal mobility robots and airport service robots, contributing to technological advancements.    In Q2 of this year, Model Solution reported consolidated sales of KRW 18.4 billion and operating profit of KRW 1.6 billion, up 12.2% and 218.8% quarter-on-quarter, respectively. According to a company official, “Being selected as a member of the K-Humanoid Alliance demonstrates our competitiveness and will serve as an important stepping stone toward strengthening our position in the global robotics market and expanding into new businesses.”

■ Participating in Korea’s ₩6 billion Design Innovation Capability Enhancement Program, part of the 2025 Design Industry Technology Development initiative ■ 33-month dedicated R&D on personal mobility solutions, focusing on scenario-based design, personalized content, and new form factors ■ Leading hardware development through proprietary manufacturing platforms and advanced mobility engineering capabilities Model Solution Co., Ltd., a global innovative hardware platform company and an affiliate of Hankook & Company Group, has officially launched a national project titled “Hyper-Personalized Personal Mobility Service Design Development.”    This project is part of the 2025 Design Industry Technology Development Program supervised by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), and falls under the ₩6 billion Design Innovation Capability Enhancement Project. Model Solution will lead Task 8 of the 13 designated subprojects, receiving approximately ₩1.7 billion in R&D funding over 33 months.    The company aims to develop personalized mobility services that reflect individual driving purposes, user behavior patterns, and various indoor and outdoor environments. Key development areas include:     • Environment- and scenario-based design     • Development of personalized content tailored to user needs     • New form factor designs optimized for weight reduction, accessibility, and intuitive operation    The project will be carried out in collaboration with design firm BKID and the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Hanyang University, led by Professor Kang Chang-mook. Model Solution will take the lead in hardware development by leveraging its proprietary integrated manufacturing systems and mobility engineering expertise, while working with partners to ensure technical robustness.    To address social changes such as population aging and increasing demand for individual transportation, the project also includes the development of public-integrated designs. These will explore integration with infrastructure such as public transit and healthcare facilities, aiming to enhance mobility for transportation-disadvantaged populations and promote sustainable urban mobility.    From a UX (User Experience) perspective, the focus will be on enhancing operational convenience, intuitive information recognition, and driving safety.    Final products will undergo field testing at welfare and medical institutions to validate their effectiveness, and strategies will be developed for both domestic and international expansion using the company’s existing partner network.    In parallel, Model Solution is also developing smart actuator technology applicable to personal mobility drive systems. These actuators are being developed using Axial Flux Permanent Magnet (AFPM) motors, with scalability designed for broader applications such as robotics and next-generation mobility devices.    “This project is centered on designing mobility solutions tailored to the characteristics and needs of individual users,” stated Byung-il Woo, CEO of Model Solution. “By leveraging Model Solution’s integrated capabilities in product planning, design, and manufacturing, we aim to introduce a next-generation personal mobility platform that embodies both inclusivity and technological competitiveness.”
