■ Expected to play a key role in the national strategic project to elevate Korea as a robotics powerhouse ■ Leading next-generation robot technologies with its “ultra-lightweight smart actuators for humanoid joints” Model Solution Co., Ltd., a global innovation hardware platform company and an affiliate of Hankook & Company Group, has been officially selected as a member of the K-Humanoid Alliance, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT). The K-Humanoid Alliance is a collaborative initiative of research institutes, conglomerates, component makers, and startups, aiming for technological independence in humanoid robotics and the establishment of an industrial ecosystem by 2030. Key participants include leading research institutions such as Seoul National University, KAIST, Yonsei University, and POSTECH, as well as major Korean corporations like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, and POSCO. Alongside Model Solution, many specialized robotics companies have also joined. Through this, Model Solution is expected to play a critical role in Korea’s national strategy to become a global humanoid robotics leader. Model Solution is developing an “ultra-lightweight smart actuator for humanoid joints,” which integrates AFPM motors, inductive encoders, GaN motor drives, and QDD reducers. By leveraging its accumulated expertise in actuator structure and integrated design, the company has filed multiple patents, securing a technological edge. In addition, with its comprehensive manufacturing infrastructure—spanning prototyping, tooling, injection molding, and 3D printing—the company has been recognized for its strong advantage in rapidly advancing proof-of-concept (PoC) validation and commercialization. With this alliance participation, Model Solution plans to actively drive demonstration and commercialization of precision actuation systems for humanoid arms, hands, and legs. The company will also collaborate with partners to develop open platforms, contributing to industry standardization. Furthermore, it aims to expand participation in government R&D and global projects, creating results applicable across healthcare, rehabilitation, industry, and service sectors. Byung-il Woo, CEO of Model Solution, said, “Model Solution is not only a provider of prototypes and components but also a company that integrates core actuation, control, and manufacturing technologies essential for humanoid robots. Through our participation in the K-Humanoid Alliance, we will contribute to ensuring Korea’s global competitiveness in the robotics industry.” Meanwhile, Model Solution has established partnerships with global robot manufacturers to mass-produce and supply key components for humanoids, collaborative robots, quadruped robots, and logistics robots. The company also participates in various government-led robotics projects, including national R&D programs for personal mobility robots and airport service robots, contributing to technological advancements. In Q2 of this year, Model Solution reported consolidated sales of KRW 18.4 billion and operating profit of KRW 1.6 billion, up 12.2% and 218.8% quarter-on-quarter, respectively. According to a company official, “Being selected as a member of the K-Humanoid Alliance demonstrates our competitiveness and will serve as an important stepping stone toward strengthening our position in the global robotics market and expanding into new businesses.”
